planned Giving

Philanthropy is personal, and every donor has a unique “why” they give. There are many ways to support San Diego Blood Bank with a planned gift such as stock, real estate, life insurance, will or living trust, charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust, and charitable lead trust.

All too often, we take our blood supply for granted and just assume it will be there when you need it. To ensure a robust blood supply of red cells, platelets and plasma, I strongly recommend you make a commitment to become a blood donor, financial supporter or volunteer with the San Diego Blood Bank. You will meet an enthusiastic staff who will assist you in making miracles happen every day. Every blood donation day is a great day.

Stock Gifts

Did you know…

San Diego Blood Bank accepts appreciated gifts of stock with tax benefits for the donor.

Donating stock is a great way to ensure you maximize your impact, with the added advantage of a tax deduction and removal of future capital gains. If you are interested, please consult with your tax advisor to determine if an appreciated stock gift is the right giving option for you.

Bequests and real estate gifts

San Diego Blood Bank’s future depends upon the continued generosity of friends such as you. Bequests and real estate gifts are important sources of future planning; they help us predict our future and strengthen our many exciting programs. Your legacy will endow and perpetuate the standards of excellence that our community has come to expect from San Diego Blood Bank and those in the community we serve.

For more information on how to donate real estate or stock, or make a bequest, please contact Cherryl Castro-Lector at (619) 400-8214 or cclector@sandiegobloodbank.org.

Impact of Endowment Funds

An endowment fund is a powerful way to create your legacy and make a lasting impact for generations to come.

The principal of an endowment fund is not spent, which protects the earning power and enables donors to continuously donate and grow the endowment by reinvesting in the principal. The interest earnings directly fund the donor’s intent of the gift.

To contribute to San Diego Blood Bank’s endowment at the San Diego Foundation, please make checks payable to the San Diego Foundation and mail them to:
