In partnership with our community, San Diego Blood Bank’s (SDBB) Financial Development Department raises funds to support San Diego Blood Bank’s critical role in serving our diverse community with lifesaving blood services and innovative medical research. Gifts from SDBB financial donors are vital to support our mission to advance and grow the essential services we provide. Support can be designated for our greatest need fund or specific campaigns.
Your continued support provides critical
blood collection resources
Philanthropy is at the heart of our lifesaving efforts to provide much needed resources for blood collection and distribution for patients throughout Southern California. Caring people like you are the reason we impact the lives of so many patients.
At San Diego Blood Bank, we are always striving to do more for our patients, hospitals, and community. To meet growing needs for blood components more efficiently — and ensure the highest quality for every patient — we are investing in the Reveos® Automated Blood Processing System.
The Reveos is a revolutionary technology that automates the process of separating whole blood into its life-saving components: red cells, platelets, and plasma. Instead of multiple manual steps, the Reveos processes four donations at once in a single, streamlined cycle. This will allow SDBB to process more donations faster, optimize precious staff time, and improve product quality — ultimately helping more patients in need of life-saving transfusions.
Your support today ensures that San Diego Blood Bank continues leading the way in innovation, quality, and community impact. For more information about Reveos and how philanthropy fuels our mission, please contact Cherryl Castro-Lector, Director of Development, at cclector@sdbb.org or (619) 400-8214.

meet Blood recipient Alijah
Alijah was diagnosed with a rare blood condition known as Thalassemia. Because of this condition, his body can’t make a type of hemoglobin called “E hemoglobin,” which is needed to carry oxygen in the blood. To stay healthy and alive, Alijah needs a blood transfusion every three weeks. He had his first transfusion when he was just 8 months old at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
Alijah is incredibly thankful to the people who donate blood and take the time to help—thanks to them, he and others like him have a chance to live a healthy life.
