In partnership with our community, San Diego Blood Bank’s (SDBB) Financial Development Department raises funds to support San Diego Blood Bank’s critical role in serving our diverse community with lifesaving blood services and innovative medical research. Gifts from SDBB financial donors are vital to support our mission to advance and grow the essential services we provide. Support can be designated for our greatest need fund or specific campaigns.
help fund a new bloodmobile
San Diego Blood Bank is embarking on the “Drive to Save Lives,” an ambitious campaign to raise $750,000 for the purchase of a new bloodmobile. Our bloodmobiles are essential in providing accessible and convenient blood donation opportunities throughout the entire Southern California region and ensure San Diego Blood Bank can meet the needs of our hospital partners and does so by collecting more than 50% of our annual blood supply.
Now through December 31, every dollar you donate will be matched, — up to $100,000 — thanks to the incredible support of the San Diego Self Storage and Managing Partner, Anthony R. Carr.
This means your $50 gift becomes $100, $100 becomes $200, and together, we can raise $100,000 to bring this new bloodmobile to life.
Our current fleet has served us well, but as our vehicles age, the need for reliable and efficient replacements becomes more pressing. A new bloodmobile will introduce state-of-the-art features designed to enhance the overall donor experience and streamline the donation process.
Please consider a gift today. The goal of raising $750,000 is ambitious, but it is achievable with the support of our community and supporters like you.
support your local donor center
San Diego Blood Bank donor centers are community landmarks for nearly 60,000 volunteer blood donors we see each year. Your gift will support each center’s everyday needs, including supplies and vital equipment for blood collection.
Your tax-deductible financial donation is a priceless, lifesaving gift for someone in our community. What better way to share the gift of health this holiday season? The programs and services provided by San Diego Blood Bank are made possible through your generosity.
Support from the community is essential for San Diego Blood Bank to accomplish our mission, and corporate support is welcome and appreciated.

community partner
Funding from our long-time partner, San Diego Gas & Electric, has enabled SDBB to continue our AlertMedia emergency communications system. The system allows San Diego Blood Bank to send emergency notifications when critical events, such as severe weather or workplace violence, threaten the health and safety of staff, volunteers, and donors.
San Diego Blood Bank ensures timely delivery of blood products to numerous hospital partners. Our staff must be aware of emergencies that could negatively impact this critical service.
Many thanks to San Diego Gas & Electric for its continued support!
meet Blood recipient emma
Emma was born with an undeveloped right ventricle and was diagnosed with hypoplastic right heart with pulmonary atresia. She had her first heart surgery at 3 days old, her second at 4 months old, and then, her third at 19 months old. San Diego Blood Bank supported Emma through all of these surgeries. She now has annual check-ups with her cardiologist, but is doing well. Emma loves baking and cooking for her friends. She enjoys reading, listening to music and podcasts.
Emma also loves to volunteer each year as a camp counselor for Camp del Corazon, a summer camp for kids born with a congenital heart defect. Emma attended the camp from ages 7-17 and now loves being a camp counselor on Catalina Island.
